INTERNATIONAL MEN'S DAY

It is celebrated worldwide on "19th November" every year.

International Men's Day celebration was first declared by Thomas Oaster in 1992, to raise awareness about - what men's face and revived in 1999 by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh in Trinidad and Tobago, understanding the importance of celebrating good male role models, also he felt that there's no day for young boys, teenagers and man(who are not fathers), so he chose 19 November, his Father's birthday as International Men's Day celebration. (IMD)

India inaugurated ceremony of IMD on 19 November 2007 by the leading Indian male rights organization. India accepted this date for IMD celebration because 19 November was already considered as International Men's Day, by rest of the world.
International Men's and Women's Day is considered as 'gender-centric'
and they highlight issues that are considered unique to men and women.
It emphasises on positive role models.

International Men’s Day November 19 focuses on men’s health, improving gender relations, highlighting positive male role models, and promoting positive expressions of masculinity.
It’s also an opportunity to recognize men who don’t fall into traditional manifestations of masculinity, such as LGBT.
IMD attempts to show that males of all ages respond much energetically to positive role models than they do to negative stereotyping.

Purpose of International Men's Day -

It's purpose is to raise awareness for men’s mental and physical health, promote positive masculinity, and support ethical male role models.

International Men's Day celebration-
Themes

World coordinators suggest a new theme to be focused on during International Men’s Day, every year.
Like -
In 2002 "peace".
In 2003 "men's health".
In 2007 "healing and forgiveness".
In 2009 "positive male role models".
In 2010 "our children's future".
In 2011 "Giving Boys The Best Possible Start In Life".
2012 "Helping Men and Boys Live longer, Happier and Healthier Lives".
In 2013, "Keeping Men and Boys Safe".
2014 "Working Together For Men and Boys".
In 2015, “Working to Expand Reproductive Options for Men".
In 2016 "Stop Male Suicide".
In 2017 "Celebrating Men And Boys In All Their Diversity".
In 2018 "Positive Male Role Models".
2019 "Making a Difference for Men and Boys" (help people make practical improvements in men and boy's health and well-being.)
In 2020 "Better health for Men and Boys".
improve the health and wellbeing of the male population.

This year it's must to look forward towards this theme as we are in need of it because it's must to check mental health and talk about mental health of men because they are considered as prime earner of their family and due to corona pandemic they got overburdened to think about the survival of their family and especially kids. Though women's are working too, still the men are the head earner of the family.

No shave November

No-Shave November focuses solely on cancer awareness and cancer prevention in memory of, Matthew Hill, the husband and father of the family that founded No-Shave November, died from colon cancer in 2007
The Hill family founded the official No-Shave November organization in 2009.

No-Shave November raises awareness and money for men's health initiatives.

No-Shave November is a web-based, non-profit organization devoted to growing cancer awareness and raising funds to support cancer prevention, research, and education.

Goals-
To grow awareness by embracing hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.

Rules -
are simple like - put down your razor for 30 days and donate your monthly hair-maintenance expenses to the cause.

Role of men in society

Men are always considered strong and less expressive. Not only women, even men face some kind of gender based inequality and stereotypes, as if men never cry, men feel no pain. e.t.c.
Just like women, men too play different roles in family and society- Father, Brother,Husband, Son.
And all these roles of man do some amount of sacrifice for happiness of their family. They work hard for their family, quick to take responsibilities and lead their family in tough times.

Break the stereotypes

Crying won't make you loose your dignity or masculinity, and Mens are allowed to cry when they get hurt, and crying doesn't make you look like feminine. You too have emotions to express. So express it, no one is and will restrict you from expressing. (In real life, from people around you, Not on social media.)

Men
The bread earner, the support system, the spinal cord and the soul of the family. They don't show but, men need much moral support, care and love, of which they are in need of.

So, Check upon males of your family like Father, Brother, Husband, Son or Friend. Ask them to voice their emotions.

Both man and woman have their individual importance, role and responsibilities and, it's wrong to compare one with the other. Comparison between two genders or the roles of two is like comparing gold and platinum.
We have to break the gender inequality or gender bias and stereotypes related to any particular gender, to make society worthliving.
